About Starlight Orphanage

Starlight Orphanage was founded in 2004 by the late Bamu Lodheku John Sula with just 6 children, driven by a simple yet powerful vision: to provide a loving home where every child can discover their potential and shine bright like a star. Located on Luban Road in Buwenge Town Council, Eastern Uganda, what began as a small initiative has grown into a beacon of hope for vulnerable children in our community.

After the passing of our beloved founder, one of the pioneer children, Nyende Faisal (also known as Isma), took over the leadership of the orphanage. Having grown up within these walls, Isma brings a unique understanding of the children's needs and continues the founder's legacy with the same passion and dedication.

Today, we are proud to be home to 67 children, with a 95% school enrollment rate and countless success stories of young people who have gone on to build meaningful lives and contribute to their communities. Though we have faced the heartbreak of losing one of our precious children, their memory continues to inspire us in our mission.

Every milestone achieved by our children is a cause for celebration. Whether it's receiving new books, completing a school term, or mastering a new skill, we believe in recognizing and celebrating these important moments in their educational journey.
